Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches Catch the Rain 2026 campaign

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the ‘Catch the Rain 2026’ campaign on Friday to promote rainwater harvesting amid the city's water crisis. The event, organised by the Delhi Jal Board, featured the unveiling of the campaign’s mascot, ‘Neera’. Ms. Gupta stressed the need for immediate action on groundwater recharging.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the ‘Catch the Rain 2026’ campaign at an event organised by the Delhi Jal Board. She unveiled the campaign’s official water mascot, ‘Neera’, and urged renewed focus on rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharging across Delhi.

“The water crisis can no longer remain just a subject of discussion and demands immediate and decisive action,” Ms. Gupta said on Friday.

She highlighted that rising population and rapid urban development are driving up water demand while sources remain limited. “With rising population and rapid urban development driving up demand, and limited water sources, rainwater harvesting must be prioritised,” she added.

The campaign aims to address the ongoing water crisis in the city through proactive measures.
