Dhurandhar tops Netflix India charts within 24 hours of debut

Ranveer Singh's spy thriller Dhurandhar has achieved top spot on Netflix India just a day after its streaming premiere on January 30, 2026. Despite the digital release, the film continues to draw theatrical audiences, collecting ₹0.25 crore on its 57th day. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie's success spans both screens and streaming platforms.

Dhurandhar, a spy action thriller directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, premiered on Netflix on January 30, 2026, in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. The film, which began its theatrical run on December 5, 2025, quickly topped the Netflix India charts within 24 hours of its digital release, also trending at No. 7 in Qatar and No. 8 in Bahrain. This global streaming surge follows a ban in certain Gulf regions due to its geopolitical narrative, allowing fans there to access it via Netflix for the first time.

Theatrical performance remains robust despite the OTT debut. On Day 57, corresponding to its ninth Friday, Dhurandhar earned ₹0.25 crore net in India, defying the usual post-streaming drop. Cumulative figures show an India net collection of ₹836.1 crore and a worldwide gross of ₹1301.8 crore, with overseas contributing ₹298.75 crore. In its eighth week, it recorded 127,000 ticket bookings on BookMyShow, surpassing Stree 2's 76,000 and nearing Laalo's 130,000, highlighting strong repeat viewership even amid competition from Border 2.

The Netflix version runs for 3 hours and 25 minutes, shorter than the theatrical 3 hours and 34 minutes, primarily due to the removal of anti-tobacco warnings required in cinemas. However, some fans expressed disappointment on social media over perceived censorship, including muted dialogues and a trimmed runtime of about nine minutes, linked to revisions in the censor certificate to 3 hours, 28 minutes, and 56 seconds. Despite these concerns, the film's dual success underscores its cultural impact as a long-running blockbuster.
