Doechii and SZA team up on new single addressing industry plant claims

Doechii has released a new single featuring SZA titled 'Girl, Get Up,' capping off her successful 2025 with a direct response to rumors labeling her an industry plant. The track, which dropped on December 30, highlights her hard-earned achievements and critiques misogyny in hip-hop. This collaboration builds on their previous work together.

Doechii, the 27-year-old Grammy winner from Tampa Bay, ended her standout year in music on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with the release of 'Girl, Get Up,' a woozy track featuring TDE labelmate SZA. In the song, Doechii tackles online narratives questioning her authenticity, rapping, "All that industry plant s—t whack/ I see it on the blogs, I see you in the chats/ You suck every rap n—a d—k from the back/ But what’s the agenda when the it girl Black."

She emphasizes her dedication, stating, "Y’all can’t fathom that I work this hard/ And y’all can’t fathom that I earned this chart." The rapper also references a co-sign from Kendrick Lamar and vows to confront misogyny in the genre on her upcoming album, saying in the third verse, "They callin’ me the intellect amongst the p—y rap/ I still be poppin’ p—y, them my sisters, so I can’t agree with that/ These n—s misogynistic, I’ll address it on the album."

This marks the second collaboration between Doechii and SZA, following SZA's feature on the 2022 remix of Doechii's 'Persuasive.' Doechii's rising profile includes her first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with 'Anxiety,' which samples Gotye and has earned five nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards: best rap song, best rap performance, best music video, song of the year, and record of the year. The new single arrives as Doechii aims to build on her Grammy momentum.
