Efforts underway to protect Ethiopian workers in Saudi Arabia

Ethiopian authorities are actively working to safeguard the safety and welfare of citizens employed in Saudi Arabia. Labor and Skills Minister Mufrihat Kamil met with the Ethiopian ambassador to Saudi Arabia to address these issues.

Addis Ababa, Hidar 4, 2018 (EFM CI) – Efforts are underway to ensure the safety and benefits of Ethiopians working in Saudi Arabia.

Labor and Skills Minister Mufrihat Kamil met with Ethiopian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Muktar Kah (Dr.) and other embassy officials. Their discussion focused on protecting the rights and benefits of Ethiopians in overseas labor migration and those employed in Saudi Arabia under feasible conditions.

Ambassador Muktar (Dr.) stated that broad job opportunities are being created based on the agreement from the plan aimed at enabling job opportunities for citizens in Saudi Arabia. The discussion with stakeholders to allow Ethiopian professionals broad job opportunities in Saudi is continuing.

They assured that citizens coming to Saudi for job opportunities will have their safety guaranteed and will return home having fulfilled their purpose, in a dignified manner. State Minister Mufrihat noted that special attention has been given to Saudi Arabia's labor migration due to historical and geographical proximity, as well as the available broad job opportunities.

The embassy will provide the necessary support and follow-up to implement the plan, according to information shared with Fana Digital.
