Egypt's Drug Authority Chairperson Ali El Ghamrawy met with Sweden's Ambassador to Egypt Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt to explore strengthening bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector. The meeting followed up on the recent visit by Sweden’s Minister of Health to Egypt. Both sides committed to deepening collaboration for enhanced drug security.
Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairperson of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), met with Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, Sweden's Ambassador to Egypt, to discuss avenues for advancing a strategic partnership in pharmaceuticals. El Ghamrawy highlighted the strength of Egyptian-Swedish relations and the authority's eagerness to expand cooperation with international partners for knowledge exchange and regulatory enhancement aligned with global standards.
He emphasized technical cooperation with the Swedish Medical Products Agency to help Egypt achieve Maturity Level 4 (ML4) under the World Health Organization benchmarking system. Ambassador Juhlin-Dannfelt expressed Sweden's appreciation for the EDA's regulatory role and reaffirmed support for Egypt's goal to become a leading regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing, aiding drug security.
The discussions covered outcomes from the recent visit by Sweden’s Minister of Health, along with mechanisms to activate joint cooperation, including support for Swedish companies in Egypt and facilitating technical components for medical products. Both sides stressed Egypt's strategic position as a gateway to European, African, and Middle Eastern markets, fostering localization of advanced pharmaceutical industries and sector investments.
