Egypt and Sweden discuss expanding health cooperation ahead of planned ministerial visit

Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar stated that the discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming visit of Sweden's health minister, including arranging field visits to Egyptian hospitals and pharmaceutical factories. These visits aim to enhance cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise in multiple health domains, with an emphasis on improving healthcare services and developing medical staff skills.

The talks also addressed reviewing Egypt's initiatives to provide medical care for Palestinians wounded in Gaza, as Cairo continues to treat patients arriving from the enclave. Both sides agreed to sign joint memoranda of understanding to yield concrete results from the planned visit and broaden collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Furthermore, they explored the possibility of bringing Swedish medical experts to Egyptian hospitals to share knowledge in various specialties.

Abdel Ghaffar reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to bolstering the partnership with Sweden in healthcare in a manner that serves shared interests and supports the advancement of health systems in both nations, according to the ministry's statement.
