It welcomed ongoing diplomatic efforts, including signals from Washington, urging priority for dialogue over military confrontation. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington and Tehran are engaged in “constructive” and potentially productive talks, with envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner holding discussions with Iranian counterparts and more expected by phone. “We don’t want Iran to have a nuclear weapon and we want peace in the Middle East,” Trump said, adding that Tehran “wants to make a deal and we want to make a deal too.” He ordered a five-day delay on planned strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure, including power stations, to allow diplomacy a chance, and mentioned a potential 15-point agreement for “long-term guaranteed peace” in the region. Iranian officials denied any negotiations, with state television calling Trump’s claims “not true” and sources citing attempts to lower energy prices or buy time. Military actions persisted, including reported airstrikes on Tehran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' 76th wave of missile attacks, Hezbollah strikes on northern Israel, and UAE interception of seven Iranian ballistic missiles and a drone.
