Elderly Eastern Cape woman killed by mob over witchcraft allegations

Eastern Cape police have arrested two women in connection with the murder of a 75-year-old woman in Ngcobo who was attacked by a mob on Sunday after being accused of practicing witchcraft.

The victim, identified as Nokhansala Sidiki, was taken from her home in the Luthuthu locality in Zadungeni administrative area on the morning of May 17. She was allegedly attacked by a group of people over claims of witchcraft.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana confirmed that two female suspects aged 26 and 28 are in custody. She stated that more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
