Ethiopia targets 4 million women for digital ID registration in one week

Ethiopia's National Registration Program plans to register 4 million women for Fayda Digital ID within one week under the 'Megabitlanchi' campaign. Simeon Seyfu, director of public engagement, confirmed the target to Fana Media Corporation. Women have begun queuing early for registration.

Ethiopia's National Registration Program has launched a nationwide campaign named 'Megabitlanchi' to register 4 million women as Fayda Digital ID owners within one week. Simeon Seyfu, director of public engagement, told Fana Media Corporation that the program has set this target. Women have started queuing early to begin the registration process. Since the Fayda Digital ID registration began, 39.5 million people have enrolled, with 42 percent being women. The initiative operates in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs. Officials state that equipping women with digital IDs aims to secure their rights and enhance their economic participation.
