Ethiopian Muslims marked the 1,447th Eid al-Fitr on Megabit 10 and 11, 2018 EC with prayers and festivities in Addis Ababa and Oromia cities. Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Ababe and official Adem Farah extended greetings.
The 1,447th Eid al-Fitr was celebrated with great splendor by Ethiopian Muslims across the country on Megabit 11, 2018 EC. In Oromia region cities, festivities began with various religious ceremonies, followed by Eid prayers. The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council stated that training on forgiveness and reflection during Ramadan would continue. Muslims are expected to greet each other with mercy and forgiveness. In Addis Ababa, Mayor Adanech Ababe said Eid prayers were held with immense splendor while preserving religious dignity. She thanked social service providers who mobilized crowds, along with religious leaders, security forces, the Muslim community, and residents for their contributions. On Megabit 10, Prosperity Party President Adem Farah sent an 'Eid Mubarak' message. In it, he expressed confidence that the occasion would embody good deeds, forgiveness, and solidarity. He urged Ethiopians to strengthen the reform path and national unity during the celebrations.
