Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, mayor of Cuauhtémoc, has gained visibility through protests and political confrontations, sparking interest in her family. Her parents are businessman Martín Rojo de la Vega and influencer Mónica Piccolo, while siblings Nunzia and Gabriel focus on wellness and fitness ventures.
Alessandra Rojo de la Vega has emerged as mayor of Cuauhtémoc in Mexico City, noted for actions like protests outside Palacio Nacional against feminicides in August 2023 and public clashes with Morena figures, such as Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña. On social media, she remarked: “Hey, Fernández Noroña, did this welfare support help you buy your million-dollar house in Tepoztlán?”.
Her background features a Communication degree from Universidad Iberoamericana and a Digital Strategy diploma. She entered politics via the Estado de México government's Communication Social office and Enrique Peña Nieto's 2012 presidential campaign social media team. As a local deputy for the Partido Verde, she advanced a ban on single-use plastics. She served as Social Development director in Miguel Hidalgo under PAN's Mauricio Tabe, resigning in March 2023. In 2024, Frente Amplio por México nominated her for Cuauhtémoc, where she reported an armed attack on her vehicle during the campaign.
Her family includes father Martín Rojo de la Vega, a discreet businessman tied to his children's companies, who in 2018 was involved in a road incident on the Periférico with son Gabriel. Mother Mónica Piccolo is an influencer with a mental health podcast titled ¿Cuánto más puedo ser? and runs a clinic/spa, promoting techniques like access bars alongside daughter Nunzia.
Nunzia Rojo de la Vega, Alessandra's sister, is a fitness influencer and CEO of PIÚ BELLA (personal care and environment), NunziaEyeWear (Mexican sunglasses with UV400 protection), and NA Nutrición Avanzada (protein powders). She brands herself as a creator of wellness, beauty, and financial freedom, with two children and online classes.
Brother Gabriel Rojo de la Vega is a former footballer who played for teams including América, Atlante, San Luis, CD Denia, Rayo Vallecano B, and Scotland's Partick Thistle. He owns brands like R3raw Protein and training centers Fitness Colective and Templo, the latter co-owned by his father. He identifies as a global Nike trainer.
The family gathered on September 15 for the Independence Day shout in Cuauhtémoc, Alessandra's first official event as mayor.
