Family of Francisca Cadenas to testify in Hornachos murder case

The children and widower of Francisca Cadenas, killed in 2017, will testify Monday before a Badajoz judge investigating her neighbors Julián and Manuel González, arrested last month after her remains were found buried near her home.

The three children and widower of Francisca Cadenas are scheduled to testify on Monday before the investigating judge at the Villafranca de los Barros court in Badajoz. This follows the March arrests of neighbors Julián González (52) and Manuel González (57), charged with her murder and crimes against liberty.

Cadenas, 59, vanished on May 9, 2017, in Hornachos (Badajoz). Her skeletal remains were discovered on March 11, 2026, just 20 meters from her home, buried in a pit under the brothers' patio during a Guardia Civil search. The younger brother, Julián, has confessed to killing her in a rage-fueled argument, while Manuel denies involvement. Both remain in pre-trial detention without bail, ordered March 14.

Family lawyer Verónica Guerrero is pushing murder charges against both and, if sexual motives are proven (hinted by prior wiretaps), seeks revisable life imprisonment via private prosecution. After testifying, the family plans to meet at Hornachos town hall to review the case and urge respectful media coverage.
