Final Fantasy 7 remakes draw surge of Steam players

Interest in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth has risen sharply on Steam following a trailer for the upcoming Revelation at Summer Game Fest. The games received discounts as part of a franchise sale, leading to higher concurrent player counts over the past weekend.

Remake reached more than 10,000 concurrent players on Steam in the past two days while Rebirth peaked at 6,751. Both titles were discounted to £12.24 and £15.99 respectively during the sale.

The trailer highlighted an open world, story developments and combat refinements for the third entry in the series. It is scheduled to launch in 2027 and will conclude the updated story of Cloud and his companions facing Sephiroth.

Remake originally launched on Steam in 2022 and Rebirth in 2025. The games have also seen recent releases on Switch 2 and Xbox.
