Florida Realtor and family found dead in murder-suicide

A Florida Realtor, her two young daughters, and their father were found stabbed to death in a Doral home on June 2. Authorities are investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said the victims were 46-year-old Melanie Hyer, 42-year-old Ryan Whiten, 11-year-old Savannah Whiten, and 8-year-old Sienna Whiten. Police responded to a welfare check call from a friend and discovered the bodies in Hyer's home in a gated community. Hyer and Whiten had been co-parenting their daughters after their relationship ended. They had each married and divorced other people. Whiten's ex-wife, who divorced him in 2024, told WSVN that custody disputes had strained their relationship and that Whiten feared Hyer would take the children away. The sheriff's office is awaiting results from the medical examiner. Doral Mayor Christy Fraga described the incident as an unimaginable tragedy. A local journalist who knew Hyer said there had been no indication of such violence.
