Une agente immobilière de Floride, ses deux jeunes filles et leur père ont été retrouvés poignardés à mort dans une maison de Doral le 2 juin. Les autorités enquêtent sur ces décès comme étant un meurtre suivi d'un suicide.

Le bureau du shérif de Miami-Dade a indiqué que les victimes étaient Melanie Hyer, 46 ans, Ryan Whiten, 42 ans, Savannah Whiten, 11 ans, et Sienna Whiten, 8 ans. La police est intervenue suite à un appel d'un ami pour un contrôle de bien-être et a découvert les corps au domicile de Hyer, situé dans une résidence fermée. Hyer et Whiten élevaient leurs filles en coparentalité après la fin de leur relation. Ils s'étaient chacun mariés et avaient divorcé d'autres personnes. L'ex-femme de Whiten, qui a divorcé en 2024, a déclaré à WSVN que des litiges concernant la garde des enfants avaient tendu leur relation et que Whiten craignait que Hyer ne lui enlève les enfants. Le bureau du shérif attend les résultats du médecin légiste. La maire de Doral, Christy Fraga, a décrit l'incident comme une tragédie inimaginable. Un journaliste local qui connaissait Hyer a affirmé qu'il n'y avait eu aucun signe avant-coureur d'une telle violence.
