France offers sound and light show at Statue of Liberty for US 250th anniversary

A sound and light show created by French DJ Michaël Canitrot will be broadcast Friday evening on the Statue of Liberty in New York, on the eve of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.

The French consulate general in New York assigned the mission to Parisian DJ Michaël Canitrot. The show serves as the opening event for festivities supervised by Donald Trump’s administration.

One hundred forty years after its inauguration, the monument designed by Auguste Bartholdi and Gustave Eiffel will be illuminated during the night from Friday to Saturday. Canitrot describes the performance as “a new gift from France to the United States.”

Since 2019, the artist has already performed at several historic sites through his Monumental Tour, including Mont-Saint-Michel and the Eiffel Tower. Friday’s show continues this series of events.
