Americans in the nation’s capital will see an unprecedented aerial display today as part of President Donald Trump’s Salute to America 250 celebration marking the country’s 250th anniversary.
The event features hourly military flyovers beginning at 1:15 p.m. and continuing until sunset over Washington, D.C. Organizers describe it as the largest aerial celebration in American history, with demonstrations from aircraft representing every branch of the U.S. military.
Gates on the National Mall open at 1 p.m., with the official program starting at 7 p.m. President Trump is scheduled to speak at approximately 9:45 p.m., followed by what the White House has called the largest fireworks display in U.S. history around 10:30 p.m.
Highlights include the America’s Force One formation, the Air Force Tri-Bomber Formation with B-2, B-1B and B-52 aircraft, performances by the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds, and demonstrations of F-22, F-35 and F/A-18 jets. The celebration is the centerpiece of year-long semiquincentennial events across the country.
