Devin Lamar Anthony, 26, faces charges including malice murder and feticide after authorities say he shot his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Shakiya Pridgen, 23, through a bedroom window in DeKalb County.
Police responded around 5:15 a.m. on June 16 to reports of a shooting in the 3300 block of Peppertree Circle. Pridgen was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital, where she and her unborn child died.
Anthony allegedly fired 11 shots into the window where Pridgen slept with her two young children, ages 1 and 3. The children were unharmed. Investigators used traffic cameras to place Anthony's vehicle at the scene.
The couple had recently split over allegations of infidelity and a disagreement about the baby's name. Pridgen was two weeks from giving birth to a boy named Kyren. Anthony remains in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.
Pridgen's mother, Verdina Scott, said she wants justice for her daughter and grandson. Her father, Wakiel Pridgen, criticized officials for prior leniency toward Anthony in another case.
