The government reported that the Investigations Police located 33 of the 64 Haitian children listed as untraceable in a Contraloría pre-report. The minors are with their families and receive education and health services.
Social Development and Family Minister María Jesús Wulf and PDI General Eduardo Cerna confirmed the information on Friday from La Moneda Palace. Cerna detailed that the 33 children live with relatives and are enrolled in school.
“It is coordinated work, an intersectoral table and in relation to the Contraloría report, which refers to 64 minors who had not been located, of them we have already found 33,” Cerna said. He added that the minors are in good health.
Mayors from the Metropolitan Region met with Wulf to cross-check municipal data. In Romeral, meanwhile, six children were found, three of them in conditions that prompted a complaint for rights violations.
The task force continues the search for the remaining children. Wulf stressed that the focus is on action and not on political recriminations.
