Indonesia's Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services granted special Idul Fitri 2026 remission to 155.908 inmates and child offenders nationwide. 1.143 inmates and 19 children were immediately released, saving Rp109.2 billion in food costs.
The Directorate General of Corrections under Indonesia's Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Imipas) symbolically granted special remission (RK) and sentence reductions (PMP) for Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah/2026 on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Narkotika Gunung Sindur Penitentiary in Bogor. The event was led by Director General Mashudi, who read a speech from Minister Agus Andrianto. Recipients totaled 155.908, comprising 154.785 inmates and 1.123 child offenders. Among them, 153.642 inmates received RK I (partial reduction), 1.143 received RK II (immediate release), 1.104 children got PMP I, and 19 children got PMP II (immediate release). The highest numbers were from West Java Regional Office (18.335), North Sumatra (15.621), and East Java (14.244). Agus Andrianto stated, “Remisi khusus dan pengurangan masa pidana khusus Idul Fitri diberikan negara sebagai bentuk penghargaan kepada warga binaan yang telah menunjukkan perubahan dan prilaku positif dalam mengikuti program-program pembinaan dengan baik.” Mashudi added that the policy saves Rp109,261,845,000 in inmate food costs and motivates them to behave well and prepare for reintegration into society.
