Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski has embraced his manager's longstanding Forrest Gump nickname after a standout shutout performance.
Misiorowski faced the minimum 27 batters and struck out 15 in a one-hit shutout against the Philadelphia Phillies last weekend. Brewers manager Pat Murphy compared the 6-foot-7 right-hander to the film character, praising his focus and lack of self-imposed limits.
The pitcher posted an AI-generated image of himself as Forrest Gump on Instagram. Misiorowski said Murphy has used the nickname since his first big league spring training and that he finds it funny and positive.
This season Misiorowski is 8-2 with a 1.34 ERA and 131 strikeouts. He is scheduled to start Friday night against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.
