Daily Wire columnist Chloe Trapanotto criticized podcast host Jennifer Welch after Welch mocked Erika Kirk—the widow of slain Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk—during a recent episode of Welch’s 'I’ve Had It' podcast, including remarks about Kirk’s appearance in a video and labeling her a “racist fascist.”
On a recent episode of the liberal-leaning podcast I’ve Had It, co-host Jennifer Welch criticized Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, according to a May 4, 2026 Daily Wire opinion column by Chloe Trapanotto.
Trapanotto wrote that Erika Kirk appeared in a video segment for The Charlie Kirk Show in which she wore black, adopted a serious tone, and spoke about the future of the conservative movement. The column says Welch mocked Kirk’s outfit as “cosplaying as an assassin” and referred to her as “the racist fascist about whom I am talking.”
The Daily Wire piece also states Welch had previously called Kirk “an absolute grifter,” and alleges Welch once suggested banning Trump supporters from Mexican, Chinese, and Indian restaurants.
Trapanotto’s column further asserts that Erika Kirk has two young children and that she publicly forgave the man who killed her husband. The column says Kirk later took on a leadership role at Turning Point USA after Charlie Kirk was killed at a college event “last September.”
Several of those broader contextual claims—including the description of Charlie Kirk’s death as an assassination at a college event in September 2025 and that Turning Point USA’s board selected Erika Kirk to lead the organization—have been reported elsewhere. The Associated Press, Axios, and other outlets reported in September 2025 that Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, and that Turning Point USA’s board unanimously chose Erika Kirk as CEO and board chair shortly afterward.
The Daily Wire column frames Welch’s remarks as part of what it describes as a wider pattern of online hostility directed at Erika Kirk following her husband’s killing, but the article offers those characterizations as commentary rather than independently documented findings.
