Julieta Venegas returns to Auditorio Nacional with Norteña tour

Julieta Venegas performed at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional on June 18 after nearly a decade away. The concert celebrated her new album Norteña and her roots in Tijuana.

The singer-songwriter took the stage in pink attire, a cowboy hat and boots before an audience of 10,000 people. She opened the show with “Tiempos Dorados,” the lead single from Norteña, and mixed new tracks with older hits throughout the evening.

Special guests joined Venegas for several songs. These included Majo Aguilar, Girl Ultra, El David Aguilar, Santiago Casillas of Little Jesus and Israel Ramírez of Belafonte Sensacional. A highlight came when she performed a norteño-style version of Juan Gabriel’s “No Me Vuelvo a Enamorar.”

Venegas shared personal stories between songs. One anecdote explained how she wrote “Te Celebramos” for her father’s 80th birthday. The concert closed with audience favorites such as “Eres Para Mí,” “Me Voy” and “Limón y Sal.”
