The game at Sassuolo started brightly for Juventus, who took the lead in the 16th minute when home defender Tarik Muharemovic turned the ball into his own net. The visitors struggled to convert chances in the first half but improved after the break. David, making amends for his earlier miss, set up Fabio Miretti for the second goal in the 62nd minute.
