KUCCPS explains limited medicine slots for top KCSE students

KUCCPS has explained why more than 1,000 students who scored grade A missed out on medicine placements despite their strong performance.

KUCCPS held its second webinar on Wednesday, May 20, where CEO Agnes Wahome said there are fewer than 1,000 medicine slots across public and private universities. She noted that more than 2,000 students scored straight A in the 2025 KCSE exams, making competition extremely stiff.

Wahome stated that even straight-A students may miss out due to the limited capacity. She stressed that applicants need at least a B in biology, chemistry, mathematics and either English or Kiswahili to qualify.

At the same time, KUCCPS has returned courses such as nursing, medicine and engineering to the portal during the revision period. Director John Oluoch said some newly approved programmes have been uploaded and students should check before the May 22 deadline.
