Lala Lala signs to Sub Pop for album Heaven 2

Chicago singer-songwriter Lala Lala, real name Lillie West, has joined Sub Pop Records for her new album Heaven 2, set for release on February 27. The announcement includes two new tracks and details of a North American tour starting in March. The album features collaborations with several notable artists.

Lala Lala is set to debut on Sub Pop with Heaven 2, her latest project following a previous stint with the label's imprint Hardly Art. The album arrives on February 27, marking a return to full-scale songwriting after her 2021 release I Want the Door to Open and a 2024 instrumental LP titled If I Were a Real Man I Would Be Able to Break the Neck of a Suffering Bird.

Co-produced by Melina Duterte of Jay Som and West herself, Heaven 2 includes contributions from Sen Morimoto, Macie Stewart, and Aaron Maine of Porches. With the announcement, listeners can now stream the title track “Heaven2” and “Even Mountains Erode.” The full tracklist encompasses songs such as “Car Anymore,” “Arrow,” “Tricks,” “Scammer,” “Anywave,” “Does This Go Faster?,” “This City,” and “Wyoming Dirt.”

To support the record, Lala Lala has scheduled a North American tour beginning March 6 in San Diego at Casbah. The itinerary covers cities including Pioneertown, Tucson, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Raleigh, Asheville, Atlanta, Nashville, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Brooklyn. Support varies: lots of hands joins for early western dates, while mother soki accompanies the eastern leg.

This move to Sub Pop underscores West's evolving presence in the indie music scene, building on her Chicago roots and collaborative approach.
