LavAni defeats Bhayangkara Presisi 3-1 in Proliga 2026 final opener

Jakarta LavAni Livin' Transmedia beat defending champions Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi 3-1 in the first leg of the Proliga 2026 men's Grand Final at GOR Amongrogo in Yogyakarta on Friday night. LavAni won the sets 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-18, taking a 1-0 aggregate lead in the best-of-three format. They now need just one more victory for the title.

LavAni fielded their strongest lineup from the start, with setter Dio Zulfikri combining with spikers Taylor Sander, Georg Grozer, and Boy Arnes. They secured the first set 25-22 thanks to solid defense, despite fierce resistance from Bhayangkara's Bardia Saadat and Martin Atanasov.

In the second set, Bhayangkara fought back effectively through Rendy Tamamilang, Agil Angga, and captain Nizar Zulfikar, winning 25-22 to level the match at 1-1. LavAni responded in the third set with sharp serves from Taylor Sander, triumphing 25-16.

The momentum carried into the fourth set, where LavAni dominated to close 25-18. LavAni assistant coach Erwin Rusni said, “We played well in the first set, but in the second set there were many self-inflicted errors by the players.”

Bhayangkara coach Reidel Toiran admitted, “We could compete in the first two sets, but after that we lost our game in the third and fourth sets.” Captain Nizar Zulfikar added, “This loss is done; now we focus on the next match.”

The second leg is scheduled for the same venue on Saturday (April 25).
