Linda Noskova claimed her first Grand Slam title by beating compatriot Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in the Wimbledon final. The 21-year-old Czech player overcame a second-set collapse to secure the victory on Centre Court.
Noskova led 5-2 in the second set before Muchova saved five match points and won five straight games to force a decider. The younger player regrouped in the third set, breaking serve early and closing out the match on her sixth match point after two hours and 27 minutes.
In her on-court speech, Noskova paid tribute to her late mother, Ivana Noskova, who died of cancer in July 2024. Former champion Martina Navratilova was seen in tears in the Royal Box. Muchova joked during her runner-up remarks that Noskova was her "ex-friend" before praising her opponent's performance.
Noskova will receive €3.6 million in prize money but faces a 47 percent deduction under UK tax rules, leaving her with roughly $2.6 million. The win lifts her to a career-high WTA ranking of No. 7. She also won the Berlin Open weeks earlier, becoming the first player since Maria Sharapova in 2004 to claim both a grass warm-up and Wimbledon in the same season.
