Czech player Linda Noskova defeated Karolina Muchova to claim her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. The 21-year-old World No. 9 overcame a challenging family background to secure the victory.
Noskova beat Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in the final. She dedicated part of her post-match speech to her late mother, Ivana Noskova, who died of cancer in July 2024.
Her father, Drahos Nosek, described the family's early struggles in an interview with iSport.cz. He said they had nothing to eat or a place to live after previous divorces and that he collected scrap metal to survive while working as a railway dispatcher.
Noskova turned professional in 2019 and also won the Berlin Open earlier in 2026. She is the third Czech winner at Wimbledon in the last four years. Martina Navratilova was among those moved by the speech from the Royal Box.
