Martin Kaymer, captain of the Cleeks team, said it is highly unlikely that LIV Golf will hold its planned August team finale in Michigan.
Kaymer spoke to reporters ahead of this week's LIV Golf UK event. He told Today's Golfer that the next three individual events in England, New Jersey and Indianapolis are expected to proceed, but the team finale at Cardinal at Saint John's in Plymouth has only a five percent chance of taking place.
The comments come amid funding challenges for the league after Saudi support was withdrawn earlier in the season. An earlier event in New Orleans had already been postponed indefinitely.
Kaymer reflected on the season's disruptions. “There was so much happening. Canceled New Orleans. Canceled most likely the last event,” he said. He added that finishing the season remains important ahead of any plans for 2027.
CEO Scott O’Neil is seeking new funding by September. The Asian Tour recently ended its agreement with LIV Golf in favor of partnerships with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
