Manchester United sign Tynan Thompson from Tottenham

Manchester United have completed the signing of 18-year-old winger Tynan Thompson from Tottenham Hotspur. The deal is worth an initial £4 million, with another £4 million in add-ons. Thompson has joined after a strong season in Spurs' youth teams.

The transfer was confirmed by Manchester United in a statement on 20 July. The club said Thompson, an England youth international, had agreed to move subject to registration. He was promised chances to break into the first-team squad.

Thompson joined Tottenham's academy at age 12. Last season he recorded 13 goals and six assists across Under-18 and Under-21 levels. Seven of those goals came in seven UEFA Youth League matches, and he twice appeared on the senior Champions League matchday bench.

The agreement includes a 15% sell-on clause for Tottenham. United described the move as another piece of smart summer business.
