Abdukodir Khusanov has agreed a new five-year deal with Manchester City that will keep him at the club until 2031. The 22-year-old Uzbekistan international joined in January 2025 and has established himself in the defence.
The Uzbekistan defender described the signing as a great day for himself and his family. He said he has enjoyed settling into life in Manchester and the Premier League while continuing to develop as a player.
Khusanov now faces the task of impressing new manager Enzo Maresca to secure regular selection. He thanked City supporters for their backing during his early months in England and expressed determination to contribute to the club's success.
Director of football Hugo Viana praised the young centre-back as a brilliant young man with all the attributes needed to reach world-class level. Viana noted that Khusanov's best years lie ahead and welcomed the contract extension.
Manchester City begin their season on 16 August against Arsenal in the Community Shield before hosting Bournemouth in the Premier League a week later.
