Manchester United sign goalkeeper Karl Darlow on free transfer

Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer. The 35-year-old Wales international joins as backup to Senne Lammens and has agreed a two-year deal with an option for a third year.

Darlow moved to Old Trafford after a season at Leeds United, where he made 22 Premier League appearances and kept five clean sheets. He previously played for Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.

The player expressed pride in the move. “I am extremely proud to sign for Manchester United,” Darlow told the club’s official website. “I’m joining an excellent group of goalkeepers and I’m really looking forward to all pushing each other to ensure that we maintain the highest standards.”

Director of football Jason Wilcox highlighted Darlow’s experience. “Karl has proven his ability to perform at the highest level,” Wilcox said. “We are delighted to add a player of his quality and experience to our excellent goalkeeping group.”

The signing follows the arrival of midfielder Andrey Santos from Chelsea on Monday in a deal worth a reported £50 million.
