Maren Morris plans break from touring after current run

Maren Morris announced during a July 3 interview that her Dream Girl Tour will be her last for a while as she shifts focus to songwriting and family time.

The 36-year-old country-pop artist made the comments on Today while promoting the expanded reissue of her 2016 debut album Hero. The set, released June 26 via Legacy Recordings, features two new tracks and original demos.

Morris said the tour ends Aug. 15 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. She explained her decision by noting a decade of constant road work has left little room for creativity.

After the final shows she plans to return home for her son’s start of kindergarten and resume studio work. She also expressed interest in writing songs for Broadway musicals, citing the medium’s emphasis on storytelling.
