President Javier Milei defended Chief of Cabinet Manuel Adorni amid a judicial investigation for alleged illicit enrichment. Senator Patricia Bullrich called for him to immediately submit his asset declaration to clarify his wealth.
Milei stated that Adorni will submit his asset declaration before July 31 and said he will not fire "honest people". The president spoke during his trip to the United States and noted that judicial timelines explain the delay.
Federal Justice gained access to images of Adorni's house in the Indio Cuá country club, in Exaltación de la Cruz. Contractor Matías Tabar declared that he carried out works worth 245 thousand dollars paid in cash and without invoice.
Bullrich, president of the La Libertad Avanza bloc in the Senate, demanded speed to prevent the case from eroding government credibility. She said the feeling cannot remain that officials are the same as those they came to fight.
Martín Menem, president of the Chamber of Deputies, fully backed Adorni and denounced a "media conviction". The PRO maintained support for the government but avoided defending the chief of cabinet.
