A woman is under investigation for the death of her two-year-old daughter in Villa Gesell. A witness described the children's vulnerable situation, and authorities await the autopsy results.
The toddler was brought without vital signs to the Hospital Municipal Arturo Illia in Villa Gesell. Her mother stated that the girl had suffered bronchoaspiration while drinking from a bottle. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to establish the cause of death.
Nadia, foster mother to one of the deceased girl's siblings, testified about the reunification process with the biological mother. She reported alleged mistreatment and said the children were in extreme vulnerability. “I was surprised that everything continued as if nothing had happened,” she said.
The mother had been acquitted in 2018 over the deaths of two other daughters that occurred in 2013 and 2016. A lawyer linked to prior proceedings mentioned a Munchausen syndrome by proxy diagnosis issued years earlier by the Hospital Materno Infantil de Mar del Plata. The current case remains under investigation and no link to the disorder has been established.
