Netflix used generative AI in 300 titles this year

Netflix disclosed that generative AI assisted production on roughly 300 programs in 2026. The company shared the figure in its second-quarter earnings report published Thursday.

Co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the technology helps speed up work and cut costs while enabling shots that would otherwise be impossible.

"In many of the cases, productions would have left out those key shots because they just wouldn't have been able to afford them," Sarandos said. The titles include the sports thriller Glory and the docuseries The American Experiment.

Sarandos described AI as a tool that supports human creators rather than replacing them. Netflix acquired the AI-focused company InterPositive in March to expand such capabilities across production.
