According to the New Orleans Police Department, the Tesla, driven by 26-year-old Donte Harris, was traveling east on Chef Menteur Highway and attempting a left turn onto Dodt Avenue when it was struck by the dirt bike, which was heading west on the highway.

Responding officers found the dirt bike rider, an unidentified man, with serious injuries. Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Detectives quickly determined that Harris was responsible for the vehicular homicide and arrested him. He was booked into the Orleans Parish jail on the charge.
