Dalarna's infection control unit has updated its advice following new recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Sweden. Residents in Borlänge, Säter, Avesta, Smedjebacken, Ludvika and Hedemora should now get vaccinated against TBE.
The Public Health Agency of Sweden has mapped TBE risk across municipalities. The infection occurs in southern Dalarna where cases have been reported in six municipalities in recent years.
Fredrik Rücker, infection control physician in Dalarna, says Säter and Avesta have had somewhat more cases than the others. TBE remains relatively uncommon in the region.
No decision has been made on free vaccination. One adult dose costs 428 kronor in Region Dalarna.
