Ole Engai Growers attracted visitors at the International Flower Trade Exhibition in Nairobi in June with a horse statue made of flowers.
The company’s stand received the Silver Award for Design Excellence after presenting a horse statue made of fresh flowers. The sculpture celebrated the Year of the Horse in the Chinese calendar and was built mainly with gypsophila along with white, green and cream blooms.
Anjili Shah, co-director, said the design highlighted the company’s strength and growth. Sanir Shah, co-founder, explained that the firm grows flowers on a 29-hectare farm in Kaptagat and exports about 1,200 tonnes annually.
Kenya’s flower sector faces challenges from rising transport costs that have climbed from $1.4 to more than $4 per kilogram. In 2025 flower exports earned the country $845 million.
