Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk opened the 14th edition of Food Ingredients Africa and ProPak MENA 2026 on 2 June.
The trade exhibitions, organised by Informa Markets, run from 2 to 4 June alongside the Food Guard Summit. They bring together more than 400 companies and are expected to draw over 15,000 visitors from 35 countries. Hashem toured several exhibitor stands and the Ministry of Industry pavilion during the opening. He described the food industry as a key sector under the ministry’s 2030 strategy and stressed its role in boosting exports and local manufacturing. The minister highlighted partnerships, innovation and technology as essential for sector growth. He also linked the Food Guard Summit to national projects such as the New Delta agricultural initiative. Panel discussions and workshops at the events focus on food processing, packaging and supply chain developments.
