Two Missouri parents face child endangerment charges after allegedly leaving their young children alone in a high-rise apartment with a broken window.
Desiree Ching, 32, and David Croft, 39, are each facing two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. St. Louis police responded to a welfare check on July 13 at an apartment in the 600 block of N. Grand Boulevard.
Officers found two children, ages 5 and 3, locked inside a bedroom. The room had walls covered in feces and a broken window exposing the children to a 14-foot drop. Witnesses had seen one child hanging from the open window.
Ching was arrested at a hospital after identifying herself as the mother. Croft, who said he left the children with Ching before going to work, was later released on his own recognizance.
