Paul Feig to direct horror thriller Detention

Paul Feig will direct the horror thriller Detention for Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Platinum Dunes. The project is based on a spec script written by Daniel Gold.

The announcement follows the success of Feig's recent film The Housemaid, which earned more than $400 million worldwide. Feig is attached to direct Detention along with producers Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller, Feig and Laura Fischer. Steven Schneider, Bea Sequeira and Gold serve as executive producers.

The logline remains under wraps. No studio is attached, though sources indicate Universal Pictures is likely to receive first consideration due to existing relationships with the production companies. Fuller assembled the package and brought it to Feig.

Feig's prior films have grossed more than $1.6 billion globally. He is currently in pre-production on the sequel The Housemaid’s Secret, scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
