Peetro Seppälä leaves Örebro for Lukko on two-year deal

Peetro Seppälä, a 25-year-old defenseman, has signed a two-year contract with Finnish Liiga club Lukko after two seasons with SHL's Örebro Hockey. The deal includes an overseas clause after the first season. Seppälä recorded 26 points in 102 SHL games for Örebro.

Örebro Hockey has parted ways with several players as it rebuilds its roster. Seppälä, who joined Örebro from the AHL's Coachella Valley after two seasons there, is now returning to Finland. He has agreed to terms with Lukko in Rauma, where he will join Swedish defensemen Anton Olsson and Jakob Stenqvist as teammates. Lukko's sporting director Kalle Sahlstedt praised the signing on the club's website. “A defenseman of good size who is excellent at escaping pressure with the puck and solving situations by passing – I believe that is a very important quality in today's league,” Sahlstedt said. The contract spans two years with an utlandsklausul— an overseas option—after the first season. Seppälä expressed enthusiasm about the move. “Lukko has been one of the best clubs in the league for a long time and I see that Lukko has a chance to succeed, winning is always interesting. Otherwise, I have heard a lot of good things about Lukko; the players have enjoyed it there and have been well taken care of there, from the few people I have talked to about it,” he told Lukko's site. In his SHL stint with Örebro, Seppälä tallied 4 goals and 22 assists over 102 matches.
