Pln records 13 cases of transformer cable theft in aceh

Pt Pln Unit Induk Distribusi Aceh has recorded 13 cases of transformer cable and electrical component theft in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar Regency. These incidents have disrupted power supply and caused outages in several areas. Pln Uid Aceh Communication Manager Lukman Hakim stated that the thefts occurred from late November to mid-December 2025.

Pt Pln Unit Induk Distribusi Aceh reported 13 incidents of theft at distribution substations that affected the reliability of the power grid. According to internal company data, these events began in late November 2025 and continued until December 14, 2025, with main losses involving various sizes of electrical cables.

Lukman Hakim, Communication Manager of Pln Uid Aceh, described the increasingly intensive pattern of theft over the last two weeks. "Internal Pln data records at least 13 incidents where distribution substations were targeted for theft from late November to December 14, 2025, with losses in the form of electrical cables of various sizes," he said in Banda Aceh on December 14, 2025.

The timeline includes several specific locations. On November 28, theft occurred in Pantai Lampuuk Village and Meunasah Balee Lampuuk Village, Lhoknga Subdistrict, Aceh Besar Regency. This was followed on December 5 in Tibang Village, Syiah Kuala Subdistrict, Banda Aceh City; Beurawe Village, Kutaraja Subdistrict, Banda Aceh City; and Punge Blang Cut Village, Jaya Baru Subdistrict, Banda Aceh City.

From December 12 to 14, similar cases were reported in Lampreh Village, Aneuk Galong Village, and Keureuweung Krueng Village, Lambaro Subdistrict, Aceh Besar Regency, as well as in Inte Gajah Village, Jantho Subdistrict, and Buga Village, Seulimeum Subdistrict, Aceh Besar Regency.

The impacts not only damage state assets but also trigger mass outages, especially after flood disasters, and pose safety risks. "This theft not only harms state assets but also triggers mass outages following flood disasters and safety risks. It also causes discomfort due to the actions of irresponsible individuals," Lukman stated.

Pln Uid Aceh urges the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities around electrical infrastructure via the nearest Pln office, Pln Contact Center 123, or the Pln Mobile app.
