Pramono warns school principals to prevent bullying cases

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo commits to eradicating bullying in schools. He emphasizes the need for collaboration among government, schools, and parents to create a safe environment for children. Pramono also calls for strengthened oversight and prevention to avoid recurrence.

On November 20, 2025, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo expressed his commitment to eradicating bullying cases in school environments. In his speech at Jakarta City Hall, Pramono described bullying as a serious threat to child development, requiring joint action from government, schools, and parents.

"To all school principals, I emphasize that education is a crucial foundation for Jakarta's future. Improve learning quality, optimize teachers' roles, and ensure schools are safe, comfortable spaces free from violence. There must be no bullying in any school in Jakarta," Pramono stated.

He assured that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would strengthen supervision, update standard operating procedures for handling bullying cases, and activate accessible reporting services for students and parents. The Education Agency is tasked with providing special guidance to schools with prior similar incidents. Pramono urged principals to collaborate in building a healthy and accountable school ecosystem, including proper use of BOS funds and implementation of programs like KJP Plus and KJMU.

"Use BOS funds accountably and on target. Monitor the implementation of KJP Plus, KJMU, and child protection programs to truly impact students' futures. Build a healthy, orderly, and accountable school ecosystem," he added.

Pramono plans to collaborate with the Education Agency and related parties for counseling and to formulate prevention mechanisms. This ties into efforts to prevent violence, such as the explosion at SMAN 72, where the perpetrator allegedly drew inspiration from violent videos and prepared seven explosive materials based on CCTV footage. He asked Education Agency Head Nadiana to implement preventions so children avoid legal troubles. Pramono hopes Jakarta becomes a safe city for children, with these strategies ensuring bullying cases do not recur.
