Pulp wrapped up Mad Cool 2026 in Madrid with a performance that doubled as a celebration for England supporters. Their set closer 'Common People' played just as the final whistle blew on England's 2-1 victory over Norway in the World Cup. Frontman Jarvis Cocker addressed the crowd during the song.
The Sheffield band took the main stage late on July 11 as the closing act of the four-day festival. Many British fans in the audience followed the match on their phones while watching sets from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, David Byrne and others.
The moment England secured the win aligned with Pulp launching into 'Common People'. Fans climbed onto shoulders to cheer as guitarist Mark Webber shared the score update from backstage.
Cocker told the crowd: “But we don’t care about football because we’d rather play a concert for you people.” The set also featured classics including 'Disco 2000', 'Babies' and 'Do You Remember The First Time?'.
