Qivalis tilføjer 25 banker til projekt om euro-stablecoin

Det europæiske projekt Qivalis har tredoblet antallet af bankmedlemmer fra 12 til 37. Konsortiet planlægger at lancere en reguleret euro-stablecoin i årets andet halvår.

Qivalis har fået 25 yderligere banker med i sit stablecoin-initiativ. Dette skridt har til formål at skabe et åbent og reguleret digitalt økosystem for euroen. “Denne udvidelse er et afgørende skridt mod et åbent og reguleret digitalt økosystem for euroen,” udtaler Jan-Oliver Sell, direktør for Qivalis.

Den hollandske virksomhed forbereder i øjeblikket udstedelsen og har ansøgt om en licens som e-pengeinstitut hos den hollandske centralbank. Målet er at modvirke det dollardominerede marked. Mere end 99 procent af det over 300 milliarder dollars store marked for stablecoins består af dollar-baserede varianter.

Euroen udgør cirka 20 procent af de globale valutareserver. Stablecoins ses som fundamentet for hurtigere og billigere grænseoverskridende betalinger på offentlige blockchains.
