Ramon Chinyoung enjoys transition to Steelers running backs coach

Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Ramon Chinyoung described his shift from offensive line duties as a welcome change during a youth football camp.

Chinyoung previously served as assistant offensive line coach with the Dallas Cowboys before Mike McCarthy hired him to lead the Steelers running back room. He spoke after hosting his first annual Country Coachin' free youth football camp at Planet Ford Stadium in Spring on June 30.

"The backfield has been awesome, the experience has been awesome…going from the offensive line room to the running back room has been just a breath of fresh air," Chinyoung said. "It’s been a blessing."

The coach noted that his offensive line background helps him teach running backs how line play and the run game interact. He also praised McCarthy as a phenomenal leader and mentor.

Chinyoung works with veterans Jaylen Warren, entering his fifth season, and Rico Dowdle, in his seventh year. The pair provides experience as Chinyoung adjusts to the new position group.
