Black Bear and Artists Equity have partnered on the upcoming film A Woman in the Sun, which will star Renée Zellweger and Sissy Spacek alongside Mia Threapleton. The project marks the directorial debut of Julia Cox, who wrote and executive produced the 2023 film Nyad.
The drama centers on Claire Keating, a bartender on Nantucket who is part of the island’s dwindling middle class. When her mother falls ill and her daughter returns home, Claire confronts her past while navigating family tensions and personal growth. The story spans generations and examines the complexities of deep relationships through both humor and hardship.
